Stella is an inflatable stand-up paddle board brand striving to make a difference in the SUP market. Traditional paddle boards are expensive, heavy, and difficult to store and transport. Not to mention, inflatable boards need to be aired up to the correct PSI to hold your body weight and it can be challenging to do so with a manual pump.

Stella was born to solve these issues, and make the experience for avid riders and beginners easier, more functional, and more intelligent. With an on-board screen and companion app on the apple watch, you can access exciting features like depth detection, GPS, SOS, and heart rate monitoring.

Taking a step towards adventure and better health has never been simpler, truly making Stella the star of the sea.

Innovation that Truly Shines

Where it all started

  • This idea began after I purchased my own inflatable stand up paddle board to explore the beautiful marine protected waters of Laguna Beach. As an active, young female, I was concerned about riding all alone in the ocean. However when I got the chance to explore, I fell in love with the experience.

The inflatable board was by far the better option for me because I live in a small space and needed the ability to pack it away. With that came challenges, it was very heavy, and extremely difficult to pump up with the hand pump they supplied. I wondered how I could make paddle boards safer, an more accessible to everyone.

  • Inspired by the stars and changing of the tides, Stella is Latin for “star of the sea” and has roots in Christianity with the Virgin Mary being referred to as Stella Maris.

  • I set off on my adventure to create a board that was more eco friendly, lightweight, and is not only easier to use for beginners, but also gives riders the ability to access ride statistics, safety features, and more through the on screen board compatible with an apple watch.

Board Specs

What are the boards made of?

Stella is made of bio based thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) rather than the typical PVC which is harmful to our health. It also has areas coated with natural rubber which is sourced from rubber trees.

How much does it weigh?

It weighs around 10 pounds to carry with ease, and self inflates to the perfect PSI level (pounds per square inch) in 90 seconds with the push of a button, similar to a self inflating air mattress. The battery lasts about 1 year with normal use before it needs replaced.

What are the dimensions?

The standard board is 10 feet in length and has handles to easily carry it, and bungee cords to carry your belongings. More sizes coming available soon.

How does the board connect to the app?

A sensor located on the bottom of the board touches the water and transmits data to the apple watch. The on-board screen connects via bluetooth. The screen is matte, glare-proof, and waterproof, and can only be controlled with the watch.

Connect to the Stella Companion App

Once your board is connected to the watch via bluetooth, you can scroll through a list of options. Some of these include water temperature, PSI levels, and GPS.

Dive deeper into ride statistics, which shows the distance traveled, and speed of travel. Object and depth detection which lets you know how deep the water is an if there are any objects in your range.

Biometric heart rate detection, as well as SOS and alerts gives riders the ability to call emergency contacts and first responders to keep you safe at all times. It can also notify you of dangerous water conditions, for example an oil spill in the area.

On-Board Screen

When you choose an option to view on the watch, it will also show up on the boards screen so that in this case, you can easily watch as your speed or distance increases.
